The pennultimate(?) movie in the career of Hayao Miyazaki. The film “The Wind Rises” explores beautiful dreams of death and the death of beautiful dreams, the horrors of war and disease, and the beauty of life and love. At the end the good outweighs the bad and there is time for a glass of wine.
The talk was originally presented at Animazement anime convention in 2015 and again at Anime USA in 2017. Two versions of presentation are attached the PowerPoint version is large due to imbedded video clips. The PDF version is faster to download but does not include the video.
